Niddocks Creative Internet Solutions are a web development company based in Newark, Nottinghamshire. The company is currently in its 3rd year of trading and has a client base of around 150 ranging from small businesses through to public sector organisations. The company employ 5 members of staff including 3 full time web site developers and have 2 directors.

Niddocks main operation is to offer affordable & functional web sites ranging from simple sites ideal for companies that just require a web presence through to full e commerce on line shops.

In 2004 the company were successful in being awarded the Newark & Sherwood business award for Best New Start up Business.

As an existing client of Nottinghamshire Enterprises and having already undertaken some ICT training through the Centre for Technology Excellence (CTE), Niddocks Sales Director, Andrea Edlin was asked if she would be interested in taking part in the Football Information Technology (FIT) project. FIT is a project established with funding from East Midlands Development Agency’s (emda) Innovative Actions Programme to assist businesses in Nottinghamshire to increase their Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills.

Andrea said “One of the main reasons why I was interested in joining the programme was that the sessions were held once a month and I was able to commit myself to attending the courses in advance. Having sampled the professional training provided by the Centre for Technology Excellence (CTE) at previous workshops I knew I would be able to learn at my own level and not be rushed through the training”.

Taking part in the project has enabled Andrea to undertake training on and therefore increase her knowledge in a number of Microsoft Office applications, in particular Access & Excel.

She has also been taught how to set up an Access database to record & monitor domain name renewal and web & email hosting, which means that she is now:

• Able to produce detailed reports more effectively
• Able to mail merge
• Confident in producing PowerPoint presentations for networking events

Andrea added “Studying on the FIT project has provided me with new skills and confidence to use new applications within our company. I have designed an Access database for our renewals and it has made reporting much easier and more efficient. By attending each month it has given me chance to put in to practice skill we learned in the workshops. I would thoroughly recommend this course and I would like to congratulate the FIT team for their professionalism in organising the programme”.
