The Building

Boston Enterprise Centre provides a hi-tech, efficient and productive office environment both inside and outside the complex.

The building was designed by James Totty Partnership and built by Lindum Construction. Locally appointed sub-contractors were used throughout the construction process and all general building materials were supplied by local building merchants. Almost 90% of waste taken from the construction site was recycled.

Construction began in March 2007 and the keys for the completed building were handed over in March 2008. The year-long project cost £3.7 million, with funding coming from Boston Borough Council, Lincolnshire Enterprise, ERDF and EMDA, amongst others. The building was officially opened by Andy Harsley, creator of the Rapstrap, and winning contestant on Dragon’s Den, at an event held in November 2008.

The building has been designed to make use of natural daylight and passive solar shading by simple orientation of the layout on the site to make use of the south-facing aspect. A landscaped mound, softened with trees, wild flowers and grasses gives protection from the cold north-easterly winds.

The building was calculated as being 22% more efficient than building regulation standards dictate. This is mainly due to the installation of a biomass heating system and by incorporating passive solar protection while maximising natural lighting. CFC-free building insulation was also used to insulate the building to a very high standard.

Boston Enterprise Centre encourages green marketing, recycling, waste management, energy usage and the use of ethical and, where possible, local products among our tenants.

Measures have been taken to provide the necessary habitat for supporting wildlife by incorporating native British trees and plants. This encourages wildlife to the site and provides a pleasant working environment for users of the building.
